Louis G. Maroun

99, of Cranston, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 1, 2014. He was the beloved husband of the late Phyllis (Ricci) Maroun. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late George and Rose (Johnson) Maroun. Louis attended LaSalle Academy and Providence College. He personally built his own home in Dean Estates. In 1956, he began Allied Transmission Supply and operated it until his retirement in 1981. He was a member of the Cranston Lions Club, and became president in 1966. He served as secretary for 33 years. In 1995, he was honored with a " Melvin Jones Fellow" , Lionism's highest award. Louis was an avid golfer and served as president and secretary for the Goddard Park Senior Golf League. He is survived by his loving son, Kenneth L. Maroun and his wife Linda of Cranston. He was the father of the late Laurie Corio. Louis was the cherished grandfather of Paul Corio and his wife Joy of New York City, Louis and Matthew Maroun, both of Cranston. He was the brother of Cecelia Pierce of Walpole, MA and the late Spura Tourony, Rosemary Jamieson, Victoria Thomas, and Tufia Bookataub. Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Saturday at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in the Church of St. Mark, 15 Garden Court, Cranston. Entombment will be in Our Risen Christ Garden Mausoleum in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. VISITING HOURS Friday 4-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142.
