Louis attended Johnston Public Schools and was a fish peddler in the Johnston-Cranston area until he entered the army during World War II where he served as a medic and was stationed at March Field Airbase in California. Upon his discharge from the military, he joined the family business, N. Parascandolo & Sons Wholesale Fish Dealers in Newport, as a co-owner and worker.
