Louise D’Amore, formerly of Providence,RI and more recently, Agawam, MA, died on February 27, 2017 at the age of 96. Louise was predeceased by her husband, Louis, who died in Sept. 1995. Louise leaves her loving daughter, Faith Simmons and husband Robert (Bob) Simmons of Agawam, MA. Louise is predeceased by her two brothers and their wives, Luigi & Elizabeth Furia and Vincenzo & Della Furia.
Louise also leaves her beloved grandsons who were the love and light of her life, Steve Simmons and his wife Heidi, and David Simmons and his wife, Kati, and two beautiful great grandchildren, Libby Louise and Garrett Henry, as well as cherished nephews, nieces, cousins and her many true and abiding friends.
Louise grew up in the Silver Lake section of Providence, RI, and was a faithful steward to the Italian traditions. Her earliest venture into the workforce was at a handkerchief factory. She then went on to learn a great deal about sewing from her time at the Tirocchi Dressmakers Shop on Broadway, then onto various jobs in a bakery shop and jewelry company. Louise was known for her outstanding Italian cooking and baking and for the beautiful outfits she sewed in her younger years. She kept an immaculate home by herself well into her early 90s with an energy that was nothing short of amazing—she never shied away from hard work. Everyone was welcomed in her home; she was always and ever a gracious hostess. In her earlier years she enjoyed dancing, sewing and playing cards. She liked to plant flowers and kept a small garden in her backyard.
To those she loved, she was fierce with her loyalty and was always ready to truly listen to the concerns of others. We were all blessed to have Louise with us at some point during the 35,075 days of her life. She had a strong and abiding faith in God and found great solace in the church. The words elegant, lady, kind, dignity, remarkable and honorable apply to Louise—they were the tapestry of her life and her legacy to us.
