Louis “Lou” A. Schiapo, Sr., 80 of Cranston passed away peacefully on Saturday December 2, 2023, with his family by his side. Born in Cranston he was the son of the late Bambino and Rose (Cole) Schiapo. He was the beloved husband of Charlotte (Evans) Schiapo for 56 years.
Lou was employed by the City of Cranston, in Building Maintenance for many years until his retirement. He was a member of the Knights of Colombus, a member and a Past President of the St. Mary’s Feast Society, also holding every other executive board position throughout the years. He was the creator of the outdoor candlelight Mass that was held every year to start the St. Mary’s Feast, he also was a past Parade Marshall. An avid gardener, his summer vegetable gardens provided many great meals that were shared with family and friends. Lou’s family was his heart and soul, he looked forward to the family gatherings for the St. Mary’s Feast and Christmas Eve. He was hands down the best grandpa, he did everything for his two granddaughters, if they needed anything he was right there for them.
Besides his devoted wife Charlotte, he leaves his two loving children Sandra Maddalena of Cranston, and Louis A. Schiapo, Jr. and his wife Suzie of Warwick. He was the absolute best grandpa to Tayla Maddalena (Kenny Calise), and Krista Maddalena. He was the beloved brother of Geraldine Rave of Coventry, David Schiapo of Warwick, and Raymond Schiapo of Cranston. He leaves several nieces and nephews.
