Lucas A. Batista Delgado

Lucas A. Batista Delgado of Providence, passed away at his home on Saturday, June 7, 2025 surrounded in prayer at his bedside with his loving children. He was 91 years old.

Lucas was the beloved son of Justiniano Batista (viejo Justo) and Isabel Laureana Batista (vieja Niña) and was born in the province of Santiago (Los Ciruelos), Dominican Republic. He helped others in need and loved his family tremendously. Lucas was a police officer in Dominican Republic and in his childhood farmed and tended to cattle, pigs and chickens. During his retirement years and, prior to being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s he enjoyed agriculture, farming and growing various plants and vegetables. He spent many of his retirement years in his home country. This brought him joy and life.

In 1966, he married and relocated to New York City. He lived in Port Jefferson NY and worked in the kitchen at Stony Brook University. The family eventually moved to Providence, RI in 1973. He worked in manufacturing companies including Vargas and retiring from Taco, Inc. after 13 years with the company. Lucas and his wife lived on Cranston Street in Providence for over 30 years until their retirement.

He was the loving husband, for over 50 years, of the late Isabel A. Batista. He was the devoted father to Janet Batista Pichardo, married to Juan M. Pichardo, Manuel Batista, Justiano “Justin” Batista, Dennis “Stevie” Batista and Carmen Noris Batista Guzman.

He was the loving grandfather of fourteen and eleven great grandchildren. He also leaves many loving nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.

He leaves his loving sister Juana De Jesus Batista (Lucy) and late siblings Pedro Maria Batista, Maria Cristina Batista (Tina), Rafael Antonio Batista (Lindo), Emilio Batista (Milo), Ramon Antonio Batista (Negro), Domingo Antonio Batista (Cuco), Isabel Olegaria Blanco (Oley), Melania Altagracia Delgado (Yaba), Lucia Altagracia Nuñez. He also leaves his late half brothers and sisters Ignacio Baez, Maria Baez, Chela Baez, Cecilia Baez, Juan Pablo Baez (Pablo), Justiniano Cepeda (Nano).

You are no longer with us physically but we will cherish all the fondest memories of your laughter, dancing merengue and most of all your love and kindness.

Visiting Hours are Friday, June 13, 2025 from 5 pm- 8 pm at the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston, RI.

Funeral will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2025 at 8:45 am from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston, RI. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Michael’s Church, Providence, at 10 am. Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, 73 Church St. Cranston, RI. Repass gathering between 12pm – 3pm at St. Michael’s Church, lower level meeting space.

Lucas A. Batista Delgado de Providence, falleció en su casa el sábado 7 de junio de 2025 rodeado en oración junto a su cama con sus amados hijos. Tenía 91 años.

Lucas era el amado hijo de Justiniano Batista (viejo Justo) e Isabel Laureana Batista (vieja Niña) y nació en la provincia de Santiago (Los Ciruelos), República Dominicana. Ayudó a otros necesitados y amaba enormemente a su familia. Lucas era policía en República Dominicana y en su infancia y adolescencia cultivaba y cuidaba ganado vacas, cerdos y gallinas. Durante sus años de jubilación y, antes de que le diagnosticaran Alzheimer, disfrutaba de la agricultura, la agricultura y el cultivo de diversas plantas y hortalizas. También deja a sus difuntos medio hermanos y hermanas Ignacio Báez, María Báez, Chela Báez, Cecilia Báez, Juan Pablo Báez (Pablo), Justiniano Cepeda (Nano).

Ya no estás físicamente con nosotros, pero atesoraremos todos los mejores recuerdos de tu risa, tu baile de merengue y, sobre todo, tu amor y amabilidad.

El horario de visita es el viernes 13 de junio de 2025 de 5 p. m. a 8 p. m. en NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston, RI.

El funeral se llevará a cabo el sábado 14 de junio de 2025 a las 8:45 am desde NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston, RI. Seguido de una Misa y entierro Cristiano en la Iglesia de San Miguel, Providence, a las 10 am. Seguirá el entierro en el cementerio St. Ann, 73 Church St. Cranston, RI. Encuentro familiar y almuerzo despues del entierro entre las 12:00 p. m. y las 3:00 p. m. en la iglesia de San Miguel, espacio en el nivel inferior.
