Lucy A. (Arakelian) Kanarian

at 90 years old died Friday, January 8th 2016 peacefully at her home in Smithfield, RI. Predeceased by her husband Paul Kanarian in 1984, Lucy was the daughter of the late Serop and Nectar (Berejiklian) Arakelian. Born in Whitinsville, MA and a RI resident since 1950, she leaves her two sons, Stephen Kanarian and his wife Christine of Medfield, MA and Richard Kanarian and his wife Athena of Hudson, MA. She was blessed with four grandchildren, Gregory Vartan of Boston, Tamar Elisa and Paul Hagop of Waltham, MA and Nayiri Bekiarian of Hudson, MA. She was the sister of Paul Arakelian and his wife Dorothy of Whitinsville, MA, Mary Berberian and her late husband Kachadoor of Northborough, MA, Moses Arakelian and his late wife Akabi of Uxbridge, MA and predeceased by her brother Archie Arakelian and his wife Lucy of North Providence, RI. She was the sister-in-law of Sarah Kanarian and her late husband Shahen of Rehoboth, MA, the late Vasken and Ann Kanarian, Peter and Gertrude Kaloustian and Harry and Irene Aharonian. She also leaves fifteen nieces and nephews.

Lucy was a '44 Graduate of Northbridge HS and a '45 Graduate of the Worchester Girls Trade School. She was a seamstress for the Pawtucket Dress Company for nearly 20 years, worked in the WT Grant Fabric Dept. for 10 years and for the last 20 years was a well know seamstress in the Smithfield area.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her VISITING HOURS ON TUESDAY MORNING FROM 9:30 A.M. TO 11 A.M. in Sts. Vartanantz Armenian Apostolic Church, Providence, followed by a Funeral Service at 11a.m. Burial will be in Swan Point Cemetery, Providence.
