Major Pasquale R. Rocchio, Sr. Retired, PPD

83 of North Providence passed away on January 30, 2016 at Golden Crest Nursing Centre. He was the beloved husband of Barbara (Pazienza) Rocchio. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Bernardino and Eva (LaFazia) Rocchio. Upon graduation from Central High School Providence, Pat joined the Marines and served honorably with the Third Marine Division of the United States Marine Corp. In 1955 he joined the Providence Police Department, rising through the ranks to the position of Major and retired in 1989. He graduated from the New England Institute of Law Enforcement Management and Command Training at Babson College. He was a member of the Providence FOP Lodge#3 and the Italo-American Club of RI. He was an avid golfer and a member of Triggs Inner Club.

Besides his beloved wife, he is survived by his loving children: Robert J. Rocchio and wife Anne-Marie of Coventry, Patricia A. Brophy and husband Dennis of Smithfield, Michael P. Rocchio and wife Susan of North Providence, James D. Rocchio and partner Edward Pereira of North Providence and Pasquale R. Rocchio Jr. of Cranston. He is survived by seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was the brother of Diana DeGiovanni and husband Michael of Coventry, Richard T. Rocchio and wife Rosemary of La Quinta, CA and the late Bernardino M. Rocchio Jr.

His funeral will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. from NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue Cranston, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at St. Mary's Church, Cranston at 11 a.m. VISITING HOURS: Wednesday 4-8 p.m. Burial, with military honors, will be take place at RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter.
