A distinguished attorney and beloved family man, passed away on Easter Sunday, April 5, 2026, surrounded in love from all his family and friends. Born on February 19, 1957, in Providence, he lived a life marked by dedication to his family, his friends, his faith, his practice, and his community.
A proud alumnus of LaSalle Academy, Mal furthered his education at Brown University, earning an A.B. degree in 1979, and Boston College, where he completed both an MBA and a JD in 1983. Early in his career, he served as a law clerk for the Honorable Florence K. Murray, Associate Justice of the Rhode Island Supreme Court. His legal expertise was broad and deep, for over 35 years Mal proudly served with distinction as General Counsel to the Providence Public Buildings Authority and for over the past 10+ years Mal was an AV rated attorney. He was a proud member of both the Rhode Island and Florida Bar Associations.
Mal’s intellectual rigor and skill as a conversationalist enriched all who knew him. His passion for the law was evident throughout his career, but it was his commitment to his family that he cherished most deeply. He found immense joy in spending time with his children, grandchildren, and extended family, whom he regarded as his proudest accomplishments.
Outside the courtroom, Mal cultivated a rich and varied array of interests. Mal was a long standing member of the Aurora Civic Association in Providence and the Alpine Country Club in Cranston. He treasured golfing, wine making, long drives, and walking, always appreciating the simple pleasures of life. As his ‘Bonnet Boys’ said, ‘Mal was larger than life, and witnessing his passion, his talent, and his kindness toward others made all of us aspire to be more like him—to be better human beings.’ Music held a special place in his heart, especially the works of Bruce Springsteen, Van Morrison, Jim Croce, and Todd Rundgren.
Mal is survived by his mother Anne (Merlino) Salvadore; his son, Nicholas A. Salvadore; his daughter, Vanessa R. Robinson; his partner, Paula M. Cofone; his former wife, Donna Salvadore; his sisters, Anne Maria (Dr. Thomas Natale), Clare A. Salvadore, and Mary G. Goodison (Richard); his brothers, Steven M. Salvadore (Kimberly), Thomas M. Salvadore (Angela), and Dr. Anthony A. Salvadore; and his grandchildren, Divina G. Robinson and Amleto Achille Salvadore. He was predeceased by his father, Amleto "Mal" Ugo Salvadore, and his brother, Joseph F. Salvadore.
