Margaret C. "Peggy" Smith

98, formerly of Narragansett, passed away peacefully on May 1, 2023.

Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Edward M. and Mary E. (Creighton) Smith.

She was a 1942 graduate of St. Mary’s Academy and received an associate degree in accounting from Edgewood Secretarial School.

She was the chief accountant for the Sisters of Charity of New Jersey until she retired to Narragansett in 2001. She was a communicant of St. Thomas More Church.

She was a lifelong Seton Associate of the Sisters of Charity and did volunteer work for the Mother of Life Center in Providence and Gift of Hearing Foundation in Cambridge, MA.  She was also a member of SHHH (Self Help for the Hard of Hearing). She was an avid Boston Red Sox fan.

She is survived by several cousins.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial Saturday, May 6, 2023 at 11am in St. Thomas More Church, 53 Rockland Street, Narragansett.  VISITATION will be held in the church from 10-11AM.  Her burial will be private in St. Ann Cemetery.
