Marie R. (Cece) Payne

79, of Cranston, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 16, 2015, at Roger Williams Medical Center, Providence. She was the beloved wife of fifty-seven years to Cornelius R. "Neil" Payne. Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Emilio and Angela (Branca) Cece. Marie was a legal secretary for thirty years for various law firms in Rhode Island. She was compassionate to all she met, spending much of her time collecting and distributing clothing to the poor and homeless. Her compassion for others extended to animals as well. Marie's family was most important to her. She was a caring and loving person, and her sense of humor will be sadly missed. Besides her husband she is survived by her loving children, Steven N. Payne and his wife Doreen of Cranston, and Michelle M. Pike and her husband Brian of Warwick. She was the cherished grandmother of Jordyn Payne and the step-grandmother of Nicole Brunhuber and Kristen and Stephen Pike. She was the sister of Anthony Cece and his wife Lena of Cranston, and was the sister of the late Salvatore Cece. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Irene Cece of Cranston, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Friday at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Rocco Church, 927 Atwood Avenue, Johnston. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. VISITING HOURS Thursday 5-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
