Marie E. Violo, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, was born on November 4, 1929, in Providence, to the late Raffaele and Irene (Gemma) DiDomenico. She departed this life peacefully on July 9, 2025, surrounded by her loving family, leaving behind a legacy infused with love, kindness, and unwavering faith. She was the devoted wife of 62 years to the late Joseph Violo prior to his passing in 2012.
A woman of exceptional strength and resilience, Marie began her career at a young age, dedicating herself to support her family by working long hours while attending school and as a secretary for the Providence School Department for many years Throughout her life, she exemplified selflessness, always placing the needs of others before her own. Her generous spirit and thoughtful nature endeared her to all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Marie was not only a devoted mother but also a cherished matriarch whose impact rippled through generations. Her greatest pride lay in her family, which she nurtured with care and affection. She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Xavier (Raymond); her grandchildren, Adam Violo (Christina), Emily Dionne (Eric), Nathan Xavier (Rachael), and Christian Xavier; as well as her treasured great-grandchildren Brody, Enzo, Casey, Dante and Hazel, each of whom held a special place in her heart.
Marie’s vibrant personality shone through in her hobbies and interests. An avid bowler in previous years ,she found joy in the camaraderie of the lanes. Her culinary skills were renowned, and her family will forever savor the flavors of her beloved recipes. She took great pleasure in tending to her flowers always creating arrangements to be placed at the gravesites of family and friends. While her visits to Foxwoods provided cherished moments of delight and entertainment. Additionally, her affinity for shopping on QVC brought her joy and excitement, reflecting her ever-curious spirit.
Marie was predeceased by her loving son, Fredric Violo; and her brothers, Michael, Ralph, Joseph, and Edward DiDomenico. Their memories remain intertwined with hers in the tapestry of family history.
Her heartfelt kindness and steadfast faith will be forever remembered, as will her countless acts of generosity. Marie’s essence will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, each of whom bears witness to her remarkable life and the indelible mark she has left upon the world.
Her funeral will leave at 9:30 am on Friday July 18, 2025 from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston. Followed by her Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at Immaculate Conception Church, 235 Garden Hills Drive., Cranston. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 5:00 -7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105
