Mary A. (Scuiletti) DiPietro

July 23, 1925 — September 7, 2023

Mary A. (Scuiletti) DiPietro

98, of Cranston, RI, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 7, 2023 in the company of her loving family.

She was the beloved wife of 62 years to the late Oswaldo ‘Al’ Di Pietro of Providence, RI, and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Josephina Scuiletti of Hartsdale, New York.

Mary will always be remembered by those who knew and loved her for her cooking, her caring and her compassion.  She was known to like her coffee strong, very hot and filled to the top of the cup.  Among her favorite pastimes, she faithfully played her lottery numbers daily.  She kept a record of every daily winning number and could tell you how many times a year she hit the number.  Her greatest pleasure was cooking for her family and friends, especially during the holidays and she is well-remembered for her annual, New Year’s Day luncheon feast for as many as 50 people.  Sundays were her day to cook pasta, meatballs and sausage followed by a full second-course meal with dessert and - of course – hot coffee.  While a typical Sunday family dinner totaled 12 people, there could be any number of people who just dropped by, which was never a problem since she always cooked to feed as many as 20 people.

Born in Hartsdale, New York, Mary moved after marrying Al to live on Federal Hill in Providence for over 65 years until she moved to Cranston into a private apartment in the home of her sister-in-law, Gemma.  Mary cherished her Hartsdale roots and visited her New York family several times yearly on holidays and in summers.   She was the beloved mother of four sons, Ronald, John (wife Audrey), Ken (wife Cathy) and David. She was the proud grandmother of Shanna (husband Gary), Kevin and Alicia and she adored her great grandchildren, Dominic, Rocco and Gus. Of her brothers and sisters, Mary is survived by her youngest sister, Virginia Markowitz of West Harrison, New York.  All will miss her loving heart.

Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston on Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church, Cranston.  Burial will take place in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.  VISITING HOURS will be Tuesday from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m.
