Mary V. (Ventetuolo) Gliottone

93, died peacefully and surrounded by family on November 22, 2017.  She was the beloved wife of the late Oliver Benjamin Gliottone for nearly 50 years.  Mary was the only daughter of Mary Clara (Magliocco) and Joseph Ventetuolo, Sr. and the devoted sister to her deceased brothers Anthony Sr., Joseph, Edward Sr., and Donald Richard Ventetuolo.

Mary is survived by her much loved nephews and nieces, Anthony (Marilyn) Ventetuolo, Jr., Debra (Steven) Lombardi, Carole (Richard) Toselli, David (Dawn) Ventetuolo, Lisa Ventetuolo (David Miller), Sara Ventetuolo (Will Uronis), Jody (Kevin) Dunn, Denise Brindamour and Cheryl Cook, as well as their children and grandchildren who were blessed to have “Auntie Mary” in their lives.  She is also survived by her dear sisters-in-law, Ann and Laura Ventetuolo.  She was pre-deceased by her nephew, Edward Ventetuolo, Jr.

After graduating from Cranston High School in 1942, Mary was hired as a clerk in the United States Treasurer’s Office for the City of Cranston.  She rose through the ranks to become the first female municipal Finance Director in New England and worked in the administration of 11 Mayors during her 52 year career.  She served as the President of the Cranston Municipal Employees Credit Union from 1987 until her resignation in July of 2017.

Mary will be best remembered for her kindness and devotion to her family and friends, her enjoyment of boating on Narragansett Bay with her captain, Oliver, and her dedication to her work and community.  She was proud to be inducted into the City of Cranston Hall of Fame in 2009 for her many professional achievements and service to the City.

Her visitation will be held on Wednesday morning from 9- 10 am in The NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory , 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston followed by a  Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am in St. Matthew’s Church, 1299 Elmwood Avenue, Cranston.  Burial will take place at St. Ann’s Cemetery in Cranston.  Flowers are respectfully omitted.  Memorial gifts can be made in her memory to:  Pulmonary Hypertension Association 801 Roeder Road Suite 100 Silver Spring, MD 20910.
