70, of Johnston, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Thursday, April 20, 2017 , at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Inpatient Center, Providence.
Born in Providence, he was a son of Viola (Degidio) LaBelle of North Providence, and the late Maurice LaBelle. Maurice was a hair stylist and co-owner of Hair 2 E Tan-ity Salon, Atwood Avenue, Johnston, for approximately 20 years.
Besides his mother, he is survived by his sister, Maureen A. Napolitano and her husband Edward of North Providence, uncle of Gina St. Sauvuer and her husband Richard, Sherri Di Santo and her husband Carmine III, great uncle of Darin, Kacie, Carmine IV, and Angelina, and Dana DiPaolo who was like a son to him.
Maurice was the youngest person in the State of RI, at the age of sixteen to receive a barber’s license. He was a leader in the hair industry including Roffler, Vidal Sassoon, and was a Hair America Gold Medalist Platform Artist. He received the Gold Medal at the 1996 National Cosmetology Convention in Washington, DC. He had the honor to style Cher’s hair at that time. His hobbies were Corvettes and antique cars, fifties music, and his frequent trips to Block Island and Galilee.
Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Monday at 9:45 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Grace Church, 15 George Waterman Rd., Johnston. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. VISITING HOURS Sunday 4:00-8:00 p.m.
