75, of Johnston, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 19, 2016 at Philip Hulitar Hospice Inpatient Center in Providence surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of fifty-five years to the late Nicolina D. (Colagiovanni) Di Sandro who predeceased him on June 24, 2015. Born in Pawtucket, he was a son of the late Michael and Elizabeth (Ritoda) Di Sandro.
Michael, along with his wife were the former owners of M. Di Sandro & Sons Masonry Inc. of Cranston for twenty years before their retirement. He was the Head Coach of the Johnston Bantam National Championship Hockey Team in 1981. He was a former member of the Bricklayers Union; former member of Warwick Country Club; and a member of Kingsway Country Club in Lake Suzy, FL. During his retirement, he continued to work for his son’s company, M. Di Sandro and Sons Masonry, Inc. He used his gift of craftsmanship and created many extraordinary architectural masonry projects for family and friends. He also enjoyed making wine and especially spending time with his adoring grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving children, Michael Di Sandro, III and his wife Mary of Rumford, Robert Michael Di Sandro and his wife Kara of Providence and Karen Elizabeth Di Sandro of Providence. He was the cherished grandfather of Sarah, Elizabeth, Warren, Nathan, Grayson and Rose; and brother of Domenic Di Sandro of North Providence and Marie De Rienzo of Bedminster, NJ.
Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Friday at 8:45 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 1804 Atwood Ave., Johnston. Burial will be at St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. VISITING HOURS are Thursday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
