94, of Narragansett and Johnston, RI, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 13, 2026. She was the beloved wife of the late Herbert Bucci, with whom she shared 66 years of marriage. Born in February 1932, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Estelle (Ziobrowski) Silva.
Millie was strong-willed and spirited, with a generosity and kindness that came naturally. She made everyone feel welcome, was never short on compliments, and kept those around her smiling.
As the oldest of seven, Millie loved school and had a lifelong appreciation for learning. At a young age, she took on the responsibility of working to help support her family. She later worked at Dytex Chemical Company, where she met her beloved husband, Herb.
Millie had a special place in her heart for children. She worked as a teacher's aide at Calef Elementary School for 25 years, where she was recognized by the American Red Cross in 1983 for saving the life of a choking student. Nothing brought her greater joy than holding a baby or spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
An exceptional cook and baker, Millie took great pleasure in bringing family together, especially around the holidays. She was known for many specialties, including her homemade pizzas, Portuguese sweet bread, lemon squares, and Italian wedding soup. The beach house in Narragansett was the setting for many memories, from days spent riding the waves and enjoying the sunshine to evenings gathered around the table. For her grandchildren, there was nothing quite like spending time at Gram’s house, waking up to fresh doughboys after a sleepover, being cared for when they were sick, or simply enjoying time together.
Millie was the loving mother of Deborah R. Buffi and her husband James of Smithfield, Gary H. Bucci and his wife Susan of Cranston, Lisa M. Bucci and her husband Roger of Sarasota, FL, and the late Cynthia A. Rotondo. She was the cherished grandmother of nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren and aunt to several nieces and nephews.
Millie was the beloved sister of William Silva of East Providence, Maureen Gervais of Swansea, MA, and the late Anthony Silva, Robert Silva, Richard Silva, and Joan Silva.
Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, October 20, 2026 at 9:00 am from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am Our Lady of Grace Church, Johnston.
