Nancy B. (Brandes) Flewwellin

87, of Wakefield, died peacefully on Monday, February 6, 2017 at her home after a long battle with heart disease, and lung and spinal cancer. She was born September 22, 1929 and was a daughter of the late Paul and Margurite (Von Siedel) Brandes.  Nancy grew up in Port Washington, NY and went to Bates College in Lewiston, ME for 2 years and then transferred to university of Connecticut in Storrs where she graduated in 1951 with a bachelor of Psychology Degree. Nancy always believed in volunteering to give back to those less privileged. She and her friend, Gerry O’Brien, ran the thrift shop at The Lawrence General Hospital in Lawrence, MA for over 15 years. IN retirement in Rhode Island, Nancy volunteered for Meals on Wheels, University of Rhode Island Water Watch, and volunteered as a mentor in the Cares Program for the South County School System. Nancy had a full life and loved to travel. She visited England, Scotland, Wales, France, Lichtenstein, Switzerland, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Russia, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Germany, Virgin Islands, Mexico, Guatemala, Panama, most of the National Parks in the United States, Canada and Alaska and especially loved Canada. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Ernest Flewwellin; 2 daughters, Barbara Flewwellin and Janet Gschliesser and her husband Hans Gschliesser.  Funeral arrangements are private.
