Nicholas Ferranti, Jr.

84, passed away on Saturday, June 18, 2016, following an illness with his family by his side.  Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Nicholas Ferranti, Sr. and Theresa (DeFusco) Ferranti.  He was the beloved husband of 64 years of Marie (Eremita) Ferranti and loving father of Michael and his wife Kathleen of Cranston and the late Nicholas Ferranti, III.  He also leaves behind two granddaughters, Ashley and Stacey Ferranti of Cranston.  He was the brother of Barbara Menna of Santa Barbara, CA, Dorothy Nardolillo of Cranston, and Robert Ferranti of Las Vegas, NV.

Nicholas was a retired police officer and detective with the City of Cranston.  He also served on the Cranston School Committee and as a Councilman at Large in Cranston for ten years.  He previously served in the RI Air National Guard, and also held the position of Racing and Athletic Commissioner with the State of Rhode Island.  He had also served as President of the Cranston Chamber of Commerce, where he was the first police officer in the nation to be a president of a chamber of commerce.  Nicholas also served as a board member or officer for more than thirty community organizations and received many honors and awards.  As a businessman, Nicholas worked for more than 40 years in the promotional products industry, establishing Coast to Coast Promotional Products of Smithfield, RI in 1973.  He was a graduate of Mount Pleasant High School.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday at 10:00 am in the Cathedral of SS. Peter and Paul, Cathedral Square, Providence. Visiting hours and burial will be private. Kindly omit flowers.
