94, of Cranston, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at the Scandinavian Home, Cranston. He was the beloved husband of the late Helen (Pelli) Meloni. Born in Johnston, he was a son of the late Domenico and Antonetta (Ruotolo) Meloni. Nicholas was a superintendent for Gilbane Construction Company for thirty-seven years before his retirement in 1985. Nicholas was an avid ballroom dancer. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Cranston Council and Melody Hill Country Club. Nicholas was an US Army veteran serving during WW II. He landed on Utah Beach in Normandy and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He is survived by his loving sons, Nicholas Meloni, Jr. of Cranston, and David J. Meloni and his wife Tammy of Cranston. Nicholas was the cherished grandfather of Sheena Meloni, and David Meloni, Jr. and the great-grandfather of David Meloni, III.He was the brother of Domenic Meloni of Johnston, Margaret Alviti of Johnston, and the late Madeline Carrier, Elizabeth Venturini, and Mary Alviti. Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Monday at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, 1525 Cranston Street, Cranston.
