Nicholas "Nico" J.S. Nevola

Nicholas “Nico” Nevola passed away unexpectedly, leaving behind a family who loved him deeply, countless stories that will be told for years to come, and, in all likelihood, several opinions he never got the chance to finish expressing.

Nico was a proud veteran, a devoted father to his sons, Nick and Jake, a beloved brother, son, uncle, friend, and a truly unforgettable character. He leaves behind his mother Sheila Nevola (Werner Jackl), brother Simon Nevola, and sister Jill Rioles (Michael Rioles) and their children Conrad Vickers (Priyanka), Dalton Vickers (Mikayla and Arora), Kris Rioles (Brittany) and Stephanie Rioles. Nico was predeceased by his beloved wife, Dianne Duffey Nevola.

Those who knew Nico knew that describing him with the usual obituary words simply wouldn’t do. He was funny, fiercely himself, and the kind of person who could mock you and still have you wanting more. He could make you laugh when you weren’t supposed to, say exactly what everyone else was thinking, and probably argue his point long after everyone else had given up.

He loved riding his bike, took great pride in creating sets and interacting with all his friends and colleagues in the theater, and was happiest when he spent time with his boys on their various adventures. Nick’s love of tinkering with things came early in life with influences from his dad Paul and from both his grandfathers. He traveled all around the world and was able to visit all 50 states, leaving his mark along the way. His 50th state was Hawaii with Lynn in 2024. Always proud of his Italian and Scottish heritage, he never missed an opportunity to remind you where he came from.

But beneath the humor and all the things that made Nico Nico was a man who loved his family. His sons, Nick and Jake, were an enormous part of his life, and the love he had for them will remain long after his passing. He spoke of them often and there are no doubts how much they meant to him.

Nico’s family will miss his voice, his stories, his humor, seeing his latest tattoos, and even the things about him that occasionally drove them completely crazy. There will never be another Nico Nevola—and anyone who knew him knows that one Nico was probably all the world could handle. He was loved beyond measure, and he will be missed beyond words.

In Nick’s honor, his family asks that you remember him the way he would have wanted: tell the good stories, tell the inappropriate ones too, laugh loudly, love your family, and raise a glass to a man who was truly one of a kind.

Family and friends are invited to visiting hours on Saturday September 5, 2026 from 3:00 - 5:00 pm in the Nardolillo Funeral Home & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave. Cranston. Burial will be private.
