Norberto G. Concepcion, M.D.

92, of West Warwick, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, June 17, 2026. He was the beloved husband of Florence (Burns) Concepcion. Born in Calinan, Davao City, Philippines, he was the son of the late Severino and Asuncion (Gamboa) Concepcion.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his loving sons, Marc Concepcion and his wife Anoushka, and Jude Concepcion and his wife Blake; cherished grandchildren Caden, Bryce, Sakara, and Amara Concepcion. He also leaves many brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews.

Dr. Concepcion will be remembered for his deep compassion, quiet strength, and unwavering devotion to his family and patients. He graduated from the University of Santo Tomas Medical School in 1960 and began his surgical training at Zamboanga General Hospital. In June 1967, he came to the United States, where he continued his medical career, first working in New York City and later in Waterbury, Connecticut. He eventually settled in Rhode Island, where he served as an anesthesiologist at Rhode Island Hospital and was one of the founding partners of an anesthesiology group, retiring in 2000. Throughout his years in medicine, he approached his work with humility, integrity, and a profound commitment to caring for others. The values he cherished most were education and hard work, a belief he carried throughout his life and instilled in his family. He took great pride in his heritage, becoming an American citizen, and he modeled perseverance, patience, respect, and generosity. Above all, he was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who found his greatest joy in time spent with those he loved. His legacy of kindness, wisdom, and service will live on in all who had the privilege of knowing him.
