Paul A. Calenda, 75 of Cranston, passed away peacefully on Monday February 9, 2026, with his family by his side, after a courageous battle with dementia. Born in Providence he was the son of the late Louis and Carmella (Palmisano) Calenda.
Paul’s work ethic was unmatched, starting at a young age he built a name for himself in his hard work, and various trades. From anything from property management to the jewelry industry his drive was evident in every venture that he took on. Paul’s generosity, and caring nature were engrained, he was always there to help others. In the rare times he wasn’t working he enjoyed traveling, Florida and Aruba were two of his favorites.
He is survived by his son Carmine Calenda. He also leaves his brother Louis Calenda and his wife Debra, his sister Maria Ciliberto and her husband David, his brother Anthony Calenda, sister-in-law Daine Palmisano, and several nieces, nephews and extended family members. He was predeceased by his brother Richard Palmisano.
His family wishes to thank the staff at the Greenville Nursing Center for the care, and compassion Paul received while in their care, along with the staff at Gentiva Hospice for their exceptional care of Paul in his final days.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday February 19, 2026, at 10:00 am at St. Rocco Church, 927 Atwood Ave., Johnston. Everyone is invited to go directly to the church. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery. Visiting hours are kindly omitted.
