Paula J. Singleton

82, of Warwick, passed away surrounded by family and loved ones, on Tuesday, June 18, 2024. She was the loving wife of the late Edward Singleton. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late John and Rose (Scorpio) Montaquila, Sr.

She was the step-mother of Mary Troy, Andrew Singleton and the late Edward Singleton Jr. She leaves behind 5 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, her niece and nephew, and her beloved dog Millie. She was the sister of the late John Montaquila, Jr. Paula is survived by her neighbor Debbie, her husband David, and two sons.

She loved spending time with her family. Paula Singleton, affectionately known as Mrs. Singles by her neighbors, was cherished for her warm smile, humor, and kind heart that made their neighborhood feel like one big family. Paula thrived on hosting gatherings, whether for a sporting event, holiday, or to commemorate special occasions in others' lives. Guests could always rely on Paula to satisfy their appetites with delicious food and wine, accompanied by jokes and the humming of Frank Sinatra in the background. Every Sunday evening on Nanci Karen Drive, Paula and her late husband Ed would open their doors for their traditional family-style Italian dinners, welcoming neighbors and passersby alike to join in the warmth of their hospitality.

Paula Singleton loved spending time outdoors. She and Ed would travel to Florida for winters in their motorhome hitting every beach on the way. Paula enjoyed basking in the sun by her pool for hours and tending to her garden, which was one of her favorite summer pastimes. Recently, Paula has taken up word searches, completing the daily Jumble in the newspaper, playing Words with Friends, and amusingly, creating numerous Facebook accounts due to frequently forgetting her username and password!

Paula loved dressing to impress for any event she attended, donning a large jacket, dramatic lipstick, potent perfume, and a standout hat wherever she went! While she enjoyed going all out for most occasions, she cherished being herself with her neighbor Debbie Duquette, who was like a second daughter, best friend, and caregiver to her. Their frequent conversations, whether by phone, text, or FaceTime, were a testament to their enduring friendship. Her funeral will be held on Friday, June 21st at 9am in St Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Funeral procession will gather at the entrance of St Ann Cemetery at 8:45am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The J. Arthur Trudeau Memorial Center: Trudeau Memorial, C/O Development Office, 3445 Post Road, Warwick, RI 02886,https://trudeaucenter.org/product/my-donation/
