Penelope "Penny" (Marandos) Dedreux

97, of Kingston passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at her home.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Penelope was the beloved daughter of the late Thomas and Andronike (Archondidis) Marandos. After completing high school at Washington Irving, she married the love of her life Alfred Dedreux and moved to East Meadow, New York to raise her family.  In 1984 both she and Alfred retired to Florida, and then spent the last years of her life in Kingston Rhode Island with her son.

Penelope enjoyed traveling the world with her family and loved sharing her passion for cooking/baking and art with everyone around her.

Penelope was the beloved matriarch of her family, including her son, Bill Dedreux of Kingston, RI and daughter, Adrienne Dedreux of Alexandria, VA. She was also a cherished grandmother to Michelle Kennedy, Jonathan Lane and Sean Lane and great-grandmother (Yia Yia the Great) to Alexis, John, Christina, Julian and Damien. Penelope is preceded in death by her loving husband of 67 years, Alfred Dedreux.

Penelope’s life was a testament to the power of love, resilience, and courage. Her memory will forever be cherished by her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her life was a beautiful journey, and she leaves behind a legacy of love and inspiration.

A viewing will be held at St. Spyridon Church, 390 Thames St. Newport, RI on Thursday January 4th from 9-10 am.  The Funeral service will begin at 10 am followed by a private burial at the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to HopeHealth Hospice and Palliative Care, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904.
