Peter DiPiro

98, of Johnston, previously of Cranston, passed away on Thursday, October 6, 2016 at Briarcliffe Gardens, Johnston. He was the beloved husband of the late Madeline (Sinapi) DiPiro. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Antonio and Francesca (Moretta) DiPiro. Mr. DiPiro was a Retired Deputy Fire Chief for the City of Cranston, serving on the department for 35 years; and was also a WW II Army veteran.

Peter was an amazing musician.  A professionally trained opera singer, he sang for many years with the Civic Coral, Pelloquin Choir, Operatic Society and various church choirs. He was also a member of St. Mary's Choir in Cranston for 40 years. Eventually, he branched off into pop music performing for many years with the Peter Mann Group entertaining at countless weddings, private parties, clubs and banquets throughout  the state. He was also an active member of the John Ruggierio Post Cranston.

"Let everything that breathes Praise the Lord."  Our dad did this with the gift of his voice. May this kind, gentle ,loving, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, relative and friend Rest in Peace, Until We Meet Again.

He is survived by his loving children, Anthony DiPiro of Cranston, Francine Gonnella of Cranston, Elena Konerko and her husband Hank of AZ and was the father in-law of the late Judge Richard A. Gonnella. Peter was also the cherished grandfather of 5 , great grandfather of 6 and brother of the late Jennie Mansi, Damiano C. DiPiro, Josephine Marietta, Lillian Rufo, Thomas DiPiro and Antonetta DiPiro.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, October 15th am at 11 am in St. Mary’s Church, Cranston. Burial with military honors will take place in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to: St Vincent De Paul Emergency Food Center, 181 Princess Avenue , Cranston, RI 02920-6943.
