Peter Koshmatian

90, of Woodhaven Blvd., North Providence. He was a former Super Market Executive. He was the husband of Beatrice (Donabedian) Koshmatian. Born in Providence, RI November 14, 1923, a son of the late Krikor and Azadoui (Pakradounian) Koshmatian. He had lived in North Providence since 1966. He was employed by the Big G Food Stores for 21 years, where he became Vice President of Operations. He also was employed by Morse's Food Mart for 12 years as Director of Operations, retiring in 1988. Upon retirement he volunteered to serve part time at the Veterans Hospital (Providence) Pharmacy Department for three years. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a radio man 3rd Class for 31 months. The ship he was on took part in five assault landings in the South Pacific. He was a communicant of Sts. Vartanantz Church in Providence, RI serving as its Prelacy delegate for 16 years. He also was a church trustee and past president of its Men's Club. He was a member of Masonic organizations Over Seas Lodge #40, St. John Lodge #1, Armenian Degree Team, RI Trowel Club #40, and the Sword of Bunker Hill #99. He had received the Masonic 50 year Medal. He was a member of the D.A.V. #21.
Besides his wife, he leaves his daughter Karen Unsworth and her husband Dennis of Richmond, RI, and his son Anthony Koshmatian of West Warwick, RI, and a close friend of the family Michelle Hicks and her husband Peter of Wyoming, RI. He was also the father of the late Peter Koshmatian, Jr.
His funeral will be held on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. in Sts. Vartanantz Church, Broadway, Providence. Burial with Military Honors will take place in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston. VISITING HOURS will be Thursday morning from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m.
