Peter A. Papa
76, of Johnston, passed away on Friday, December 13, 2013 at Philip Hulitar Hospice Inpatient Center in Providence. He was the beloved husband of Vasel "Val" (Tsoumakas) Papa. Born in Cranston, he was the son of the late Frank and Clara (Sepe) Papa.
Peter was a graduate of Johnson & Wales University and was General Manager of various General Motors dealerships for many years before retiring. He was a U.S. Navy veteran; plank owner of USS Saratoga (CVA-60); and an active volunteer at the USS Saratoga Museum.
Besides his wife, he was the devoted father of Donna Broccoli of Cranston, Peter F. Papa and his wife Julie of Plymouth, MA and Kristine Angell and her husband Robert of West Greenwich; loving grandfather of Robert P. Broccoli, Andrew J. Broccoli, Nikki V. Papa, Danielle K. Papa; Samantha Angell and Nikolas Angell; loving great-grandfather of Giovanni Leander; and dear brother of Charles Papa of Johnston, Frank Papa of Hope Valley and the late Joseph and Pasco Papa.
Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston on Wednesday at 10 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Rocco's Church, 927 Atwood Ave., Johnston at 11 a.m. Burial with military honors will be at RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. VISITING HOURS are Tuesday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
