84, of North Providence, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2025 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Providence on November 10th 1940, Peter spent most all of his years in the town of North Providence where he and his beloved wife raised their two daughters. He was the devoted husband of Irene A. (Psilopoulos) Simone for 63 years and son of the late Peter and Antonette (Marchetti) Simone. He is survived by his loving daughters Helene Macedo (Larry) and Annmarie Levin (Larry) and the devoted grandfather of Matthew Levin along with loving cousins, great nieces, and dear friends. He was predeceased by his brothers-in law George A. Psilopoulos (Joyce), Dennis A. Psilopoulos and his niece Georgia Psilopoulos.
Peter was a proud 1959 graduate of LaSalle Academy, a school that he held near and dear to his heart. Not only did he meet the love of his life Irene at a Lasalle dance, but proudly watched his only grandson graduate from Lasalle many years later carrying on the LaSalle legacy. Supporting LaSalle brought Peter great joy. He continued to correspond with his Lasallian Christian brothers and lay teachers throughout his life. He often told family “never forget those who were good to you.” After attending St. Francis College in Biddeford Maine, Peter embarked on a career at Monet Jewelers where he worked as an industrial engineer.
Peter was very involved and committed to politics in the town of North Providence. He was first elected to the North Providence Democratic Town Committee of which he is still a member. Later in 1982, he was elected Councilman for District 1, inaugurated in 1983, and retired in 2005. But his love for politics brought him back into government for several years where he headed up the RI Senate Page program. It was an especially memorable time since his grandson Matthew became a page under his leadership and the two got to share precious time together.
Family was so important to Peter and there was no greater joy for him than when he became a Papa. Watching his grandson Matthew grow up was one of his greatest gifts in life. Papa never missed a school or sports activity and just seeing his grandson gave him great happiness.
We would like to extend our most heartfelt thanks to Kaawa, Ashley, Carol, and Talena for their loving and compassionate care. We are also grateful to Hope Health Hospice for their care and guidance at this very difficult time.
