Philip W. Mambro

64, of Providence, passed away on Sunday, October 11, 2015 in the loving arms of his wife, Ofelia Betancourt. He was a caring husband and a devoted son who loved his mother dearly. Born in Providence, a son of the late Philip A. Mambro and Marguerite (Ricciardi) Mambro, Philip was a graduate of Boston University. He was the founder of Pizazz Co., Inc. and Design Studio 180. He began his passion for design years ago while manufacturing jewelry with his father. He loved the crafting of glass, metal, ceramic and wood surfaces and supported the local economy by employing many local artisans. He was a born intellectual and a voracious reader who became a member of Mensa. Philip was a great storyteller and excelled in language, becoming fluent in Spanish and conversational in Italian. His curiosity for learning knew no bounds as he mastered karate, graduating to the level of black belt. He enjoyed living amongst the Brown University community and taking his daily brisk walks along Blackstone Boulevard. Philip loved his morning coffee and newspaper and eagerly engaged in interesting conversation whether it was with a complete stranger or around a dinner table with family. He and Ofelia traveled and enjoyed their time spent with family and friends in Colombia. Besides his wife, Philip is survived by his loving brother, James D. Mambro and his wife Caryn of Boston, MA. He is also survived by loving in-laws, nieces, nephews and a host of long-time friends who became like family, both here and in Colombia. "Uncle Phil" enjoyed spending time with Jessica, Jamie, Justin and Jason and he will be missed dearly.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, October 15 from 4:00-8:00pm at the Nardolillo Funeral Home & Crematory 1278 Park Ave., Cranston.
