Professor Salvatore G. Scotti

Died Monday, February 3, 2014 peacefully at home in Cranston. Born in Barano D'Ischia (Napoli) Italy, June 22, 1915. Husband of the late Linda R. Scotti. He leaves his children, Katherine, Michelle, and Louis; his grandchildren John and Alina and their mother Nadine.

Professor Scotti came to RI on February 5, 1947, he attended Brown University Graduate School and was a Professor for 27 years at Providence College. In 1967 Pope Paul 6th awarded him the distinguished honor of Papal Knight. In 1993 the R.I. State Board of Pharmacy awarded him Retired Pharmacist Emeritus, a special award of honor issued for the contribution to the practice of Pharmacy, and the outstanding loyalty and dedication to the community.  Professor Scotti was conferred a Doctorate in Chemistry from the University of Rome, Italy and, he was a veteran of WWII, a Lieutenant in the Italian Air Force.

Inventor of the "Sugar-free Concept" in 1956. He and his late wife Linda founded the Scot-Tussin Pharmacal Co., Inc. Together with his wife Linda, he produced a weekly radio "Roman Holiday" program in English and Italian for over 20 years. In 1956-58 he offered a radio program on WJAR on Italian culture and civilization as a public service.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday at 12 noon in St. Rocco's Church, Atwood Avenue, Johnston. Burial will take place in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Rocco's Church, 927 Atwood Avenue, Johnston, RI 02919 or to Beacon Hospice, 1 Catamore Blvd., East Providence, RI 02914.
