Querino "Edward" Ruggieri

100, of Cranston, passed away on Wednesday, October 5, 2016, at Philip Hulitar Hospice Inpatient Center, Providence. He was the beloved husband of Bella (DeCiccio) (Salvatore) Ruggieri and was also the husband of the late Mary “Millie” (Iannucelli) Ruggieri and Eva (Carbone) Ruggieri. Born in Cranston, he was a son of the late Pasquale and Maria (DiMascolo) Ruggieri. Mr. Ruggieri was the founder and President of Ruggieri Brothers Inc. for 60 years until his retirement, a member of St. Mary’s Society and a member of the City Hall Athletic Club where he played semi-professional football. He was also a US Navy veteran during WWII, serving as a helmsman on the destroyer W. T. Powell. His greatest passion was his greenhouse and garden, growing flowers, vegetables and fruit which he generously shared with family and friends.

Besides his wife, Ed is survived by his loving children Ralph N. Ruggieri and wife Paula, Paul E. Ruggieri and wife Deborah, all of Scituate and Janet Ricci and husband George of Naples FL. Brother of the late Angelina DelBonis, Lucy Ruggieri, Philip, John, Antonio, and Rizieri “Jerry” Ruggieri; cherished grandfather of 20 and great grandfather of 15.  Ed was also the stepfather of Dr. Joan Fargnoli of Johnston, Karen Salvatore and her husband Michael Salafia of Saunderstown, Janice Foster and her husband Robert of Reno, Nevada, Caroline Petrucci and her husband Michael of Smithfield, and the late Steven and Donald Salvatore.

His funeral will be held on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in St. Rocco’s Church, Johnston. Burial, with military honors, will take place in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
