80, of Cranston passed away peacefully on February 25, 2018, surrounded by loved ones. He is survived by Ethel (Caparrelli) DiPrete, his wife of 60 years. Born in Cranston, RI, he was the son of the late Antonio DiPrete and Theresa (Tedeschi) DiPrete. He was a graduate of Cranston East High School. Ray was a master landscape architect who also worked in interiors and floral design. He was well known to customers of Forest Hills Nurseries, and was responsible for many beautiful residential and commercial projects throughout the state. Known for his excellence and creativity, Ray and his clients often became lifelong friends.
He was the beloved father of Lisa DiPrete of El Dorado, Arkansas, Lori DiPrete Brown (husband Kirk) of Madison, Wisconsin, Mark DiPrete of Cranston and Kim McHale of Portsmouth. He was the brother of Michael A. DiPrete of Richmond. He was a loving grandfather to Evan, Elise and Kristen Brown, Alana Richelle Craven and Gavin McHale. He was also greatly loved by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was a mentor to many—funny, stubborn and wise, often at the same time.
Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston on Wednesday at 8:45 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Gregory the Great Church, 360 Cowesett Rd., Warwick. Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. VISITING HOURS will be held on Tuesday (2/27) from 4:00 – 8:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, please make memorial gifts to The Grateful Patient Program at The Miriam Hospital. We are grateful to the Intensive Care Team, especially Michelle and Marguerite, for their mercy and kindness during Ray’s final days.
