Raymond C. Insana

89, of Cranston, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, April 9, 2017, at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Inpatient Center, Providence. He was the beloved husband of forty-three years to Anna (Forlini ) Insana. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Joseph and Virginia (Giordano) Insana. He was a US Navy Veteran serving during WW II. Raymond was a master plumber and master pipefitter. He was a supervisor for pipefitters at Electric Boat in Groton, CT. After retiring from Electric Boat he became self-employed in plumbing and heating. He also worked as a plumbing and mechanical inspector for the towns of North Kingstown, East Greenwich, West Warwick, and the City of Cranston. He was a past president of the Master Plumbers Association of RI, and also a past vice president of the RI Plumbing and Mechanical Inspectors. Ray was instrumental in starting the plumbing school in the City of Cranston.

He was a volunteer at the Geneva Fire Station in North Providence and served as the chief for fourteen years. Ray was a communicant, usher, and a member of the St. Joseph’s Men’s Guild at Immaculate Conception Church.

Besides his wife he is survived by his four adored daughters, Roseanna Harrington of Coventry and her late husband Thomas, Rayna Maguire and her husband Terrence of Cranston, Deborah Wahl and her fiancée Bruce Morgan of  North Kingstown, and Susan M. Parmelee and her husband John of North Scituate. He was the brother of the late Patricia Martinelli, Doris Harrison, Eleanora Maher, Antonio, Peter, Nicholas, Frank and Dominic Insana.

Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, Oaklawn Avenue, Cranston. Entombment  and Military Honors will be held in Our Risen Christ Garden Mausoleum, in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. VISITING HOURS Monday 4-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908.
