Raymond Alan LaFazia

67, of Chepachet passed away on Friday September 23, 2016 at his home.  He was the husband of the late Dale Dwyer.  Ray was born in Providence, the son of the late Raymond A. LaFazia and Helen Jones LaFazia.

Ray graduated from Moses Brown, URI, & Suffolk Law School 1980, Magna Cum Laudi.  He practiced at Gunning & LaFazia until December 2015 when he retired as president.  He was a member of the RI Bar Association, the U.S. District Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals, and a member of the RI Asbestos Defense Counsel Steering Committee.

Ray was a lover of animals and a supporter of animal rights and shelters.  He was a knowledgeable gardener and in years past, was an avid baseball player where he enjoyed both the game and the camaraderie that followed.

Ray was a friend to many and was always generous with his time and his advice.  He was a surrogate father to his nephew Ryan and his nieces Devon, Erin, Caitlin and Meagan.  He leaves behind several great nieces & nephews and his friend and companion Gail Giroux.  Ray is survived by his sister Jeanne LaFazia her husband George Mason and his two dogs Lucky & Star.

Calling hours will be held at the Nardolillo Funeral Home, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston on Thursday, October 6, 2016 from 4:00 – 7:00 pm.  There will be a celebration of his life at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: the German Short Hair Pointer Rescue of New England, the RISPCA or the animal shelter of your choice.
