76, of Coventry, RI passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2026 at the Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston, MA. He was the beloved husband of Stephanie A. (Lima) Roberts. Born in Springfield, MA, he was the son of Wallace J. Roberts and Gloria A. (Johnson).
Besides his wife, he is survived by his loving son Travis Roberts and his wife Erica Cataldi-Roberts; brother-in-law John J. Lima and his wife Betsy MacLean. He was the brother of the late Judith Butman.
Ray was a U.S. Coast Guard Veteran who served in Vietnam from 1969-1973 when he then transferred to the reserves. After leaving the service, he worked as a radio disc jockey in Hawaii, and later, Rhode Island. Ray then transitioned into a career as an auto and marine upholsterer, running his own business in Westerly, RI from 1989 – 1997. He then moved into a maintenance career at South County Hospital, retiring from that position after 20 years. Ray loved the sea and was an avid sailor who obtained a 100 Ton Master Captain’s License, an achievement he was very proud of. Always adventurous, he rode motorcycles for most of his life into his early 70s. Ray loved working with his hands and helping people, and he was always happiest when he could help his family and friends build or fix things.
His funeral services will be private.
