Richard Arnold Berg, 78, of Greenville, Rhode Island, passed away on April 4, 2026. He was born on January 7, 1948, in Providence, Rhode Island, to Sixten A. Berg and Claire F. Maher.
Rich grew up in Cranston, Rhode Island. He enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served during the Vietnam War from February 1965 to May 1968. Following his service, he graduated from the University of Rhode Island in 1975.
In 1987, Rich met the love of his life and future wife, Margaret Davison. Together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and shared adventures. They also built a successful business, All American Leather in Johnston, Rhode Island, where they sold leather goods and other merchandise, specializing in All American Gremlin Bells. Rich spent countless hours on his Harley and at bike shows, where he and Marg became well-known distributors of pins, buttons, and other merchandise.
Rich cherished time with his friends and could often be found at his regular Monday night card games. He was a devoted fan of the New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox, and he always had a great story to tell or a joke ready to share.
He was a beloved part of the extended Davison and Martel families and a familiar presence at the annual Holland Pond “Wing Ding,” where generations of family gathered each year. Rich was known for contributing unique and memorable items to the event’s auction.
Rich had a special bond with his nieces and nephews, as well as his great-nieces and great-nephews. Each summer, he and Marg welcomed them into their home for extended visits filled with activities, from trips to the zoo and dinners out, to time spent on the boat. He was an important and cherished part of the family and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Rich was predeceased by his parents, Sixten A. Berg and Claire F. Maher; his brother, Bradford A. Berg; and his beloved wife, Margaret Davison.
He is survived by his nephew, Christopher T. Berg; his stepsister, Sherrie Capuano; his mother-in-law, Betty Davison; his brothers-in-law, Floyd, Joseph, Frank, and Will Davison; and his sisters-in-law, Mary-Jane Banville and Helen Roberts, along with their spouses and children.
A memorial service will be held at the Veterans Memorial Chapel, 301 South County Trail, Exeter, Rhode Island, on Friday, May 1, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. Everyone is asked to meet directly inside the gates of the cemetery.
