Richard Cordeiro
78, of Perennial Dr., Cranston, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Friday, April 15, 2016. He was the beloved husband for 33 years of Carolyn A. (Gasbarro) Cordeiro. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Joseph E. and Helen E. (Vitacolonna) Cordeiro.
Richard was a correctional office for the RI Dept. of Corrections for 35 years before retiring. He was a Sergeant and paratrooper in the U.S. Army for six years with the 101st Airborne Division during the Vietnam era.
Besides his wife, he was the devoted father of Joseph Cordeiro and his wife Roberta of Rehoboth, MA, Richard "Rick" Cordeiro and his wife Donna of CA, Scott Cordeiro of Seekonk, MA; stepchildren, Elizabeth Manzo, MD and her husband Vark Markarian, Vincent Castaldi and his partner Joao Filho and David Castaldi, all of Cranston; loving grandfather of five; and loving great-grandfather of nine. He also is survived by his brothers, Anthony "Bill" Cordeiro of AZ and Bob Cordeiro of MA; and his former wife Janice Cordeiro of MA.
Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston on Monday at 9:45 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mark's Church, 9 Garden Court, Cranston at 11 a.m. Burial with military honors will be at St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. VISITING HOURS are Sunday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
