Rita "Nana" (D'Ambra) Gatta

85, formerly of Simmonsville, passed away on Friday, March 24, 2017
at home surrounded by her loving family after a long illness with Parkinson’s.

Rita is the beloved wife of 67 years of Pasco Gatta, Jr. She is the daughter of the late Henry and Anna (Kelley) D’Ambra. Rita survived her siblings, sister Gilda Conti (D’Ambra), brothers Edmund “Eddy”, Henry “D”, and Vincent “Jockey”, all of Thornton.

Rita is the beloved mother of Kevin Gatta (Barbara) formerly of Brooklyn, NY now residing in Broomall, PA. She is the beloved grandmother of Luke (Brittany),
Nicholas (d. 1989), Dominic, and Mary.

Rita will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Rita was a devout and active member of St. Rocco Church in Johnston. She was employed as Personnel Manager for Narragansett Brewing Co. in Cranston for 33 years until its closing in 1981. She later worked for Foster Parent Plan International in Warwick until her retirement in 1992.

Throughout her retirement, Rita enjoyed, among other things, summer visits at the beach with her beloved grandchildren, volunteering and holding fund-raising musical events at the Governor Sprague Mansion/Cranston Historical Society, and volunteering at St. Rocco Rectory.

Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Friday at 10:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in St. Rocco Church, 931 Atwood Avenue, Johnston. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. VISITING HOURS Friday 8:30- 10:00 a.m.In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St Rocco School, 931 Atwood Avenue, Johnston, RI 02919, via stroccoschool.org .
