Rita (Mancini) Schiappa
74, of LaVaughn St., Providence, passed away on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife for 53 years of Antonio Schiappa. Born in Itri, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Maria (Saccoccio) Mancini.
Rita was a seamstress, worked in the jewelry industry, and later served the children of Joslin Community Center Day Care as a childcare assistant; and was a member of St. Mary's Ladies Auxiliary.
Besides her husband Antonio, Rita was the devoted mother of Luigi Schiappa (Brenda Patterson) of West Warwick, Marco Schiappa (Jeanne LeClair) of Scituate and Anthony Schiappa, Jr. of Providence; loving grandmother of Luigi Jr., Carissa, Joseph and Janessa; loving great-grandmother of Xavier; and dear sister of Salvatore Mancini of Cranston, Susan Goodnough of Lancaster, SC and Saveria Judge of Paulden, AZ.
Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston on Wednesday, March 9th at 8:45 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Ghost Church, 1 Knight St., Providence at 10 a.m. Burial will be at St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. VISITING HOURS are Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
