Robert E. 'Bob' Aubin

91, of Cranston, Rhode Island, died of natural causes on Wednesday, February 25, 2015. Bob grew up in Woonsocket during the Depression and entered the army to fight in WWII at age 19, serving in the 29th Division, 115 Regiment, F Company for 3 years, and achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant. For his service he received the Bronze Star, Silver Star, and Purple Heart. He also recently received the Legion of Honor Medal from the French Government for his service in France.

Bob attended URI on the GI Bill and graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, using that education to become a plant engineer and then plant manager. His career started at Allied Chemical in New Jersey, later managing the physical plant at some of Rhode Island's largest employers, including: Hasbro, Ciba-Geigy, Electric boat, and Davol, his last employer.

Bob retired in 1990, and continued to pursue his longtime hobby of photography, traveled widely, continued to attend meetings of professional and mechanical engineering organizations, and was active in the WWII reunions, starting with the 50th Anniversary of D-Day. He suffered a near fatal infection in 2009, but recovered to continue his interest in WWII and the Civil War, through viewing DVDs and listening to Audio Books.

Bob is survived by his wife of 63 years, Gloria (Ferri) Aubin, a former Cranston educator and their daughter, Debra Aubin, of Narragansett.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in St. George Maronite Church, 1493 Cranston Street, Cranston. Burial, with military honors, will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to: Disabled American Veterans (www.DAV.org).
