68, of Fort Myers, FL, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, September 25, 2026. Born in Providence, RI, he was the son of the late Robert E. and Margaret M. (Shea) Day.
Robert was a hardworking and independent man who built a varied career throughout his life. He graduated from Bishop Hendricken High School and later graduated from the University of Miami. He worked in Arizona for an accounting and property management company before eventually he obtained his real estate license, establishing his own property management business in Phoenix. He continued to own and managed real estate properties throughout his life. In 1985, he began his long career with the State of Rhode Island. He dedicated more than 30 years to state service before retiring in 2017 as a Fiscal Management Officer.
Robert had a love of adventure, travel, and the water. In 1989, he completed sailing school, adding another skill to his many interests. He especially enjoyed taking cruises and traveling to his favorite destinations. He loved bringing a camera along on his journeys, taking photographs of the places he visited and capturing the memories of his travels along the way.
Above all, Robert was a devoted father. He is survived by his loving daughter, Alyssa Day, and her husband, Ryan Crawford, of West Warwick, Rhode Island.
Robert will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family and all who knew him.
His funeral service will be held in the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Saturday, October 10, 2026 at 10:00am. Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting hours will be held on Saturday morning from 9:00 - 10:00 am.
