74, of West Warwick, formerly of Cranston, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at Rhode Island Hospital, Providence. He was the beloved husband of forty-nine years to Annette C. (Corrente) Scalzi. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Michael and Louise (Pensa) Scalzi. Robert was a structural iron worker working out of Union Local # 37 for over forty years. He was also the Safety Director for Skanska Inc. of Boston. Bob was the President of the River Farm Condo Association, West Warwick. He was a US Marine Corps veteran serving during the Vietnam War era. Bob enjoyed golf, fishing, and spending time on his boat with his grandchildren and friends. He was an avid sports fan and will always be remembered for his keen sense of humor. Besides his wife, he is survived by his loving daughters, Lisa A. Balsamo of Coventry, and Nicole A. Murray and her husband Joseph of North Smithfield., He was the cherished grandfather of Nicholas A. Mercurio, Isabella Balsamo, Emmah Murray, and Ella Murray. He was the brother of Diana Tocco of Smithfield, Judith O'Donnell of Providence, and the late Michael Scalzi, Richard Scalzi, and Carmella Forchione. Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Monday at 8:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, 237 Garden Hills Drive, Cranston. Burial with Military Honors will be in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. VISITING HOURS Sunday 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, 230 East Ohio St., Suite 304, Chicago, IL 60611-3201.
