84, of Marlborough, MA, passed away on Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at UMASS Memorial Health. He was the beloved husband of Donna Zompa. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Pasco A. and Josephine (Sullo) Zompa, and brother to the late Col. Edward A. Zompa.
Robert was a US Army Veteran (1st Lt.) serving in the Vietnam War. Robert's career spanned decades, most notably as the Assistant Vice President and Manager of Enterprise Data Services for FM Global. His professional contributions were significant, and after his retirement, he continued to touch lives by working at the Colonial Car Dealership. It was there that he formed many close friendships, leaving an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to have worked alongside him.
He was also an avid card player, often gathering with family and friends to engage in spirited games of gin and poker. His love for the outdoors was evident in his fondness for fishing and golfing. Robert was also a devoted local sports fan, particularly attending Patriots and Red Sox games. Music held a special place in his heart, especially the tunes of the 1950s, which he would sing along to with a warmth that brightened the room. Most importantly, Robert valued the time spent with his family and friends, always prioritizing meaningful connections over all else.
In addition to his wife, Donna, Robert leaves behind his children, Robert Zompa II, Kimberly (Zompa) Sanzi and Jamie (Zompa) Rezendes, as well as his grandchildren, Alyssa Zompa, Robert A. Zompa, Jessica Sanzi, Juliana Sanzi and Jack Rezendes.
