passed away peacefully on April 3, 2017. She was the beloved wife of the late Howard A. Kenny. They were happily married for 59 years at the time of his death in 2005. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late LT. Robert A. and Mary (Hughes) Campbell.
She attended the University of Rhode Island and graduated from Katherine Gibbs Business School. She worked at Starkweather and Shepley Insurance Company for a few years. Once Howard returned from World War II they were married and she devoted her life to raising her family in Providence. She was active in the Veridames of Providence College, Club Dominican of St. Pius Church and always active in the parent’s associations at her children’s schools. When Howard retired they moved to Narragansett where she enjoyed the Bonnet Shores Beach Club and the South County Women’s Club. She enjoyed many winters in Port St. Lucie, FL with their dear retired friends (Pioneer Club) from the telephone company.
Roberta derived great pleasure from her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She often remarked how grateful she was for her long healthy life with a wonderful husband and family.
She will be greatly missed by her surviving children, Linda McMillen (Richard Reed) of Narragansett, Karen Skinner (William) of Alexandria, VA, and Howard Kenny (Elissa) of Purchase, NY. She was the treasured grandmother of Meredith McMillen Nusser, Suzanne Skinner Forster, William Skinner, Kathryn Kenny, and Alison Kenny. She also leaves six great grandchildren that brought her endless joy. In addition to her husband she is also predeceased by her much loved sister Helen Campbell Hanley.
Roberta’s funeral will be held on Saturday, April 8, 2017 from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME –SOUTH COUNTY CHAPEL, 1111 Boston Neck Rd. (Rt. 1A)
Narragansett at 8:30 a.m., with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated in St. Veronica Chapel, 1035 Boston Neck Rd. Narragansett at 9:30 a.m., followed by burial at RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. VISITING HOURS are Friday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
