95, of Richmond, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 15, 2018, at home in the house he built and was so proud of. He was a home builder most of his life starting his own contracting business Vann Del Realty. He was a US Army veteran serving during WW II at the invasion of Normandy on Omaha Beach and in the Battle of the Bulge in Belgium.
As a carpenter he loved working with his hands as well as gardening. Romeo loved good food and was a pretty good cook himself always mindful of what he was eating. He leaned toward simple Italian style foods as he was a first generation American born to Italian immigrants John Della Ventura and Virginia (Vanni) Della Ventura. He is the last surviving member of his parents and siblings. He leaves behind his sons, William and Dean Della Ventura, daughter-in-law Martine and grandchildren, Celine and Lucas Della Ventura, and several nieces and nephews.
His committal service will be held on Monday at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel at St. Francis Cemetery, 202 Smithfield Avenue, Pawtucket followed by Military Honors and graveside burial. VISITING HOURS are respectfully omitted.
