Rudolph "Rudy" C. Sanda

Rudolph “Rudy” Sanda, 86, of Cranston, RI, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 18, 2024. He was the beloved husband of Marie E. (Rotondo) Sanda. Born in Cleveland, OH, he was the son of the late Rudolph Sanda and Helen (Tiefenbach) Zeman.

In addition to his wife Marie, to whom he was married for 52 years, he was the devoted and loving father of Ronald Sanda and his wife Christine of Riverside, Michael Sanda and his wife Maria of Warwick, Rudy Sanda of Cranston, Robert Sanda and his wife Melisa of Tampa, Florida, and Marie Lemery and her husband Justin of Lincoln. He was the brother of Ronald Sanda of Nashville, TN and Thomas Sanda of Maple Heights, OH. He is also survived by eight grandchildren: Danielle, Kevin, Sebastian, Ryan, Elena, Francesca, Alessandra, and Gabriella. 

Rudy served 10 years in the U.S. Navy before spending his entire career in Bank Properties at Fleet Bank in downtown Providence, also known as the “Superman building.” 

In Rudy’s spare time he enjoyed golfing, visiting navy ships, volunteering at St. Matthew Church, being a member and volunteer at the Cranston Historical Society, and most importantly he loved umpiring. He spent time as the State Umpire in Chief of the ASA/USA and NSA organizations and, after nearly 40 years of service, was inducted into the RI Slow Pitch Softball Hall of Fame in 2021.

He was very involved with his family, attending numerous functions, games, and activities. His smile, infectious and outgoing personality, and need to help will forever be missed. 

His funeral will be held Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at 10am from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am at St. Matthew Church, 1291 Elmwood Avenue, Cranston. Burial with military honors will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. VISITING HOURS will be Monday, June 24, 2024 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm.
