Salvatore L. DeCesare, Ret. Cranston Police Department

82, of Cranston, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 11, 2015. He is survived by Helen (Grossi) DeCesare, his beloved wife of 59 years. He was born in Cranston to the late Salvatore F. and Julianna (Tokaz) DeCesare on December 13, 1932.

Salvatore received an Associate's Degree in Law Enforcement from Bryant College. He served during the Korean War in Hokkaido, Japan where he was a Corporal in the 7th Cavalry. In 1961 he became a patrolman for the Cranston Police Department. After many years he then became a Detective for the CPD, receiving training in polytesting narcotics screening, explosives, and advanced drug enforcement training. He received many letters of accommodation throughout his career. He retired in 1990 on his birthday.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his loving daughters, Robyn Procaccini and her husband Charles of Fredericksburg, VA, and Kelly A. Albright of Riverside, RI; cherished granddaughters Julianna Procaccini and Maria Procaccini. He was the brother of the late Gloria Roselli, Georgette DeCesare and June Vieira.

Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston on Thursday at 9 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, Cranston. Burial with Military Honors will take place in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. VISITING HOURS will be Wednesday from 4 - 7 p.m.
