Salvatore "Swicky" Ruggieri

92, of Cranston, passed away suddenly on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at RI Hospital, Providence. He was the beloved husband of Rose M. (Braica) Ruggieri. Born in Cranston, he was a son of the late Salvatore and Maria (Iacueo) Ruggieri.

Swicky was the owner/operator of Ruggieri Brother’s Shell Gas Station in Knightsville for many years. He went on to work as a driver for McLaughlin & Moran, Inc. Swicky was a founding member of the Alpine Country Club, a member of the St. Mary’s Feast Society and Knightsville City Hall Athletic Club, for whom he played semi-pro football. He will be sorely missed by his dear friends that would gather at McDonalds four mornings per week for coffee.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his loving children, James Ruggieri and his wife Patricia Andrews of Barrington, Maria Ruggieri of Providence, Richard Ruggieri of Tulsa, OK and Gina Ruggieri of Cranston; cherished granddaughter Mia Ruggieri. Swicky was the brother of the late John Ruggieri, Parti “Sam” Ruggieri, Joseph “Chick” Ruggieri, Philip “Pumpkin” Ruggieri, Ned Ruggieri and Armando Ruggieri.

Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston on Saturday at 9:00 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Mark Church, Cranston. Burial will be private. VISITING HOURS will be held on Friday from 4:00 – 8:00 pm.
