84, of Johnston, RI, died peacefully May 28, 2025.
Serafino was born in Filippa, Calabria, Italy. He spent some time living and working in Switzerland before eventually settling in Far Rockaway, New York, where he worked as a butcher. He later moved to Rhode Island, where he built a life and a successful career as a skilled mason.
Masonry wasn’t just his job; it was something he truly loved. He was always immersed in a new project of some kind. Serafino’s garden was a true reflection of his hard work and love, brimming with vibrant various vegetables, especially tomatoes and eggplants. He took great pride in his beloved fig and lemon trees.
Spending time with his loved ones was his passion, as he was well known for his gatherings always filled with homemade wine, soppressata, and a variety of artisanal dishes. Serafino loved playing the guitar and singing, his affection for music was contagious and brought joy to those around him. He cherished lively company, loved to travel, explore, and experiment as well as always ready for a good time. His playful spirit, infectious laughter, and bountiful generosity brought joy to everyone around him. He was a longtime member of the Santa Maria di Prata Society, where he had many friendships.
Serafino was the devoted husband of 56 years to Maria Misuraca, and the proud father of Luigi Misuraca (Raquel), Mario Misuraca (Karen), and Francesco Misuraca. He is lovingly remembered by his cherished grandchildren, Magdelena “Maggie” Misuraca, Luigi Misuraca Jr., Isabella “Bella” Misuraca, and great-grandson, Damian, as well as numerous nieces and nephews both in the United States and abroad. He was predeceased by his brother Raffaele Misuraca of Sambiase, Italy, and is survived by his siblings Mario Misuraca (Alba) of Sambiase, Italy; Antonietta Pallone (Matteo) of Varese, Italy; and Paolo Misuraca (Rosanna) of Johnston, Rhode Island.
His funeral will be held on Wednesday, June 4, 2025 at 10am from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am in St. Rocco's Church, Atwood Avenue, Johnston. VISITING HOURS Wednesday morning from 8-10am. Interment will be private.
