Sheril Ann (Wiltfong) Murphy

71, of Saunderstown, formerly of West Sacramento, CA passed away on Saturday, September 16, 2017.  She was the beloved wife of William “Bill” Murphy for 48 years. Born in Ceres, CA she was the daughter of the late Floyd and Jonell (Pearson) Wiltfong.

Besides her devoted husband, she is survived by her loving daughters, Dr. Melissa Murphy and her husband Steven Colson of Saunderstown, RI, Alyssa Murphy McGehee and her husband Andrew of Washington, DC; cherished grandchildren Riley and Cole; dear brother Lloyd “Tex” Wiltfong of Los Angeles, CA., her sister Susan Thompson preceded her in death; nieces Katie, Becky, Carol, and nephew Nicholas.

Sheril met Bill while studying dance at the Royal Academy of Arts in London. After traveling England together, they married in Tacoma, Washington before settling in Montreal where she completed a degree in Education from McGill University.  Sheril and Bill moved with their two girls to California where she taught elementary school in Sacramento for more than 30 years. A loving wife, devoted mother, grandmother, and beloved friend, her zeal and zest for life remained until the end. Her spirit, humor and great selfless love still lives within the hearts of those that were blessed to know her.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial on Friday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Thomas More Church, 53 Rockland St., Narragansett, RI. The Mass will be broadcast at http://www.stthomasmoreri.org .  Internment follows at St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery, Wakefield, RI.

VIEWING HOURS in the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory-SOUTH COUNTY CHAPEL, 1111 Boston Neck Rd. (Rt. 1A) Narragansett, RI are Thursday from 5 - 8 p.m.
